The Scene Breaks feature in the Script tab allows you to manually split or merge scenes to better reflect your production’s structure. This is especially useful for customizing scheduling, managing sequences, or refining scene segmentation beyond the automatic detection.

Before you begin

Procedure

  1. Go to app.filmustage.com, and open your project.

  2. On the ribbon, go to the Script tab.

  3. At the top-right of the script area, toggle on the Scene Breaks switch.

Divide a Scene

Use this option to manually divide a single scene into multiple segments to improve structural clarity or adjust for scheduling and breakdown requirements.

Procedure

  1. Hover over the line where you want to divide the scene.

  2. Select Break on the left-hand side.

  3. In the Break Scene window that appears:

    • Review or edit the line where the break will occur.

    • Enter a custom Scene Number, or check Set scene number automatically to let the system handle it.

    • Click Break Scene to confirm.

This will split the original scene into separate sequences.

Merge Scenes

Use this option when you want to combine two scenes or reverse a previous break.

Procedure

  1. Scroll to the section where you previously added a break.

  2. At the bottom of the segment, click Merge with next.

The selected segment will be merged with the following one, restoring a continuous scene.
