In the Stripboard view of the Scheduling tab, the Assign Location option allows you to tag scenes with specific shooting locations. This helps organize your schedule by place, align scenes shot at the same venue, and optimize for travel, crew logistics, or set availability.
Before you begin
Procedure
Go to app.filmustage.com, and then open your project.
On the ribbon, go to Scheduling → Stripboard.
Find the scene strip you want to assign a location to.
Click the Assign Location button in the strip.
The Assign Location panel will appear, showing your list of available locations.
Assign a Location
Tick the checkbox with created locations next to the location (e.g., Pavilion 1, Office Building 1).
The location will be assigned to the strip and shown directly on it.
Add a New Location
At the bottom of the Assign Location panel, click Add New Location.
The Create Location window will open.
Fill in the fields:
Location Name — Give your location a clear, descriptive title (e.g., Downtown Rooftop, Hospital Basement).
Location Address — Enter a real address as it appears in Google Maps.
Example: 8500 Beverly Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90048
Location Notes — Add notes.
Click Save to create the location and add it to your list.
Add a location from your Library
Your Library is a personal collection of locations shared across all your projects. Use it to reuse a location you saved earlier without re-entering its details.
At the bottom of the Assign Location panel, click From Library.
In the Add location from Library window, enter a name in Search locations… to filter the list, then select the location you need.
Filmustage copies the location into the current project and assigns it to the strip. Editing this copy does not change the original Library entry.
Manage your Locations Library
To add or edit Library locations, select Manage locations library in the Add location from Library window. This opens Templates & Data → Locations, where you can Add New locations and manage everything shared across your projects.
Tip: You can also save an existing project location to your Library — open it with the pencil icon 🖉 and select Save to my Library. Saved locations become available in every project.
