AI Dude works directly with your active project. It reads structured project data — scenes, breakdown elements, scheduling, budgeting, and VFX — and performs actions using the same internal tools as the App.
AI Dude does not generate guesses about your project. It retrieves real data before responding.
Project-based context
AI Dude operates within the currently open project.
Each project has its own chat thread.
AI Dude automatically detects the active screenplay.
It uses the correct scene numbers and project structure.
Conversations do not mix data between projects.
If you switch projects, AI Dude switches context as well.
Example request
Show scenes 10–15.
Result
AI Dude retrieves scenes 10–15 from the currently open project only.
Structured project access
AI Dude uses structured project tools to work with your data.
It can:
Retrieve scenes and specific scene blocks.
Search characters, props, vehicles, and locations.
Modify scene metadata.
Reorganize scheduling data.
Launch background workflows such as VFX analysis.
Note: Direct editing of screenplay text (dialogue and action lines) is temporarily limited during the current beta. This capability will be fully enabled after AI Dude exits beta.
Because AI Dude uses structured data access, it maintains formatting, scene order, and project consistency.
Example request
Add a note to scene 12: needs stunt coordinator.
Result
AI Dude updates the scene note field without changing dialogue or formatting.
Semantic search and indexing
AI Dude supports semantic search across your screenplay and breakdown data.
It can find scenes by meaning, not only exact keywords.
It can search dialogue, elements, and scene relationships.
When you upload files or open a large project, AI Dude may require indexing before semantic search is fully available.
If indexing is still in progress, AI Dude may temporarily fall back to keyword-based search.
Example request
Find scenes where Arthur feels rejected or humiliated.
Result
AI Dude returns scenes where Arthur Fleck is mocked on stage, ignored by Murray, or ridiculed on the subway — even if the script does not explicitly use the words ‘rejected’ or ‘humiliated’.
Preview and confirmation
For actions that modify project data, AI Dude may request confirmation.
This typically applies to:
Schedule reordering.
Batch scene updates.
Large structural changes.
Restarting VFX analysis.
AI Dude shows a preview when necessary. You confirm before the App applies changes.
Example request
Move scenes 20–25 to Day 4.
Result
AI Dude shows a scheduling preview. The App applies changes only after you confirm.
For schedule reordering, preview results are temporary until confirmed.
Background workflows
Some operations run in the background.
For example:
VFX analysis processes scenes asynchronously.
The App displays progress automatically.
You can continue working while analysis runs.
You can close the tab and return later.
Example request
Run VFX analysis for the full script.
Result
AI Dude starts the workflow and displays progress while you continue working.
AI Dude saves results directly to your project database.
Editing safety and backups
AI Dude follows controlled update logic.
It creates an automatic backup before structural updates.
Backups are available for a limited time (up to 7 days).
It preserves scene structure unless you explicitly rewrite it.
It does not remove content without a clear instruction.
It applies batch updates only to specified scenes.
Example request
Redistribute shooting days evenly.
Result
AI Dude generates a preview and stores a backup before applying confirmed changes.
The App refreshes automatically when required.
Voice input
You can interact with AI Dude using voice input.
In the chat input area, click the microphone icon and speak your request.
Review the transcribed text before sending.
Voice input is useful for longer or multi-step instructions.
Example request (spoken)
Show me all scenes with night exteriors.
Result
AI Dude transcribes your request and retrieves the relevant scenes.
Limitations
AI Dude:
Works only with the currently selected project.
Does not access external files unless you upload them.
Does not change subscription settings or account data.
May request clarification if instructions are ambiguous.
May limit large batch operations to ensure stable processing.
