Answers to the questions we hear most often from users — about billing, scripts, projects, and how the app works.


Billing & Subscription

I cancelled my subscription but was still charged. What do I do?

This can happen if cancellation was confirmed close to or after the billing date. Reach out to [email protected] with your account email and we'll process the refund.

Can I pause my subscription without losing my work?

There is no pause option. If you cancel, your projects and data remain saved in your account. You can resubscribe at any time and pick up where you left off — your projects do not get deleted.

Note: If you cancel, any accumulated Dude Coins are frozen for 30 days. If you resubscribe within 30 days, your coins are fully restored. After 30 days, unused coins expire. If you want to keep your coins while temporarily reducing costs, consider switching to the Director's Cut plan at $49/month instead of cancelling.

Is there a student or academic discount?

Yes. Students get 70% off Director's Cut when applying from a .edu email address. Professors and course leaders can get a free trial, extended to a free annual subscription when they integrate Filmustage into their syllabus. See Academic Subscription for details.

Does my plan include DOOD reports?

Yes — Day Out of Days (DOOD) reports are available on all plans, including Free. You can generate them from the Reports tab once your script is broken down.


Scripts & Import

Does Filmustage support scripts in languages other than English?

Yes. Filmustage supports scripts in any language — including Spanish, Russian, French, Arabic, Japanese, Hebrew, and others. There are no language restrictions. The AI breakdown works across all supported languages.

What file formats can I upload?

Filmustage accepts .pdf and .fdx (Final Draft) files. Both standard and non-standard script formats are supported — including multi-camera TV scripts, stage plays, and documentary treatments.

Tip: If your script is in Word or Google Docs, export it as a PDF before importing into Filmustage.

My script is stuck during upload (e.g. at 73%). What should I do?

Try the following:

  • Clear your browser cache and try again.

  • Try a different browser (Chrome or Edge work best).

  • Make sure your PDF is not password-protected or corrupted.

  • If the issue persists, send the file to [email protected] and we'll investigate.

My script uses a non-standard format. Will the breakdown still work?

Yes. Filmustage supports non-standard formats. If your script doesn't follow the INT/EXT convention, the AI will still attempt to identify scenes and elements. Results may vary depending on how structured your format is — you can always adjust tags manually after the breakdown runs.


Projects & Data

I accidentally deleted a project. Can it be restored?

Deleted projects are archived on our end for a limited time. Contact [email protected] as soon as possible with your account email and the project name, and we'll do our best to restore it.

I uploaded a new version of my script and something went wrong. Can I revert?

Yes. Filmustage keeps previous script versions. Go to your project and look for the version selector — you can switch back to an earlier version at any time. If you're unable to access a previous version, contact support with your account email and project name.

Will I lose my projects if I cancel?

No. Your projects remain in your account after cancellation. You can log in and view them on the Free plan. AI features will no longer be available until you resubscribe, but your data is safe.


Features

Can I add my own branding to exported documents?

Yes. Filmustage supports custom branding on all exports — reports, schedules, budgets, and call sheets. Once configured, your logo, contact details, and footer appear automatically on every document you export. There is no Filmustage watermark.

Custom branding is available on subscriptions that have been active for 3 or more consecutive months (after the feature release), or on plans at $149/month and above. You only need to set it up once.

Which AI features are available on the Free plan?

The Free plan includes a partial AI breakdown (approximately 20% of scenes) so you can try the feature before upgrading. Additionally, the following AI features are currently available for free during beta on all plans: AI Schedule & Conflicts Management, AI VFX Breakdown, Semantic Script Analysis, and Copilot Actions.

Can I invite team members to collaborate on a project?

Yes. You can invite collaborators to any project by email. Team members can view and edit the breakdown, schedule, and reports. Budgeting and Call Sheets are visible to the project owner only. See Share a project via Team Access for instructions.
