The AI Budgeting tool in Filmustage allows you to automatically populate cost estimates in your budget based on your script breakdown and scheduling data. In addition to internal project data, the App references industry-standard rates and open-source financial data to approximate costs.
During generation, the App also provides Budget Hints — explanations of the logic, data sources, and assumptions behind each cost estimate. See Budget Hints in AI Budgeting.
Note: The App recalculates only base budget figures during AI Budget generation. Fringes and deductions are not generated automatically and should be added manually after generation. See Edit & apply fringes & deductions.
Before you begin
To ensure accurate estimates, complete the following steps before running AI Budget generation:
Generate the budget to create the budget structure first.
Procedure
Navigate to the Budgeting tab from the top menu.
Click the Generate AI Budget button at the top right.
In the Generation AI Budget window, optionally:
Enter a Max Project Budget to define your target budget limit.
Select a Filming Region to guide regional cost calculations.
Click Generation AI Budget to proceed.
Click Confirm Generation AI Budget to confirm.
Caution: The App will recalculate all existing budget figures. This cannot be undone.
The App displays a progress bar while recalculating. Once completed, the budget table updates automatically with new estimates based on your breakdown tags and scheduling data.
Understand budget estimates with Budget Hints
After generation, each budget position includes a Budget Hint — hover over the ? icon next to the Rate field to see the data sources and logic behind the estimate.
