The AI Budgeting tool in Filmustage allows you to automatically generate a structured budget draft based on your script breakdown and scheduling data. In addition to internal project data, the App references open-source financial data and industry-standard patterns to approximate cost categories.
During generation, the App also provides Budget Hints, which explain the logic, data sources, and assumptions behind each cost estimate. This approach helps reduce manual data entry by analyzing existing project metadata and populating budget lines accordingly.
Note: The App recalculates only base budget figures during AI Budget generation. The App does not generate fringes and deductions automatically, so you need to add them manually after generation. Learn how to do this in Edit & apply fringes & deductions.
Before you begin
Before generating a budget, complete the following essential pre-budgeting tasks to ensure accuracy:

Procedure
Navigate to the Budgeting tab from the top menu.
Click the Generate AI Budget button at the top right.
3. In the AI Budget Generation window, optionally:
Enter a Max Project Budget to define your target budget limit.
Select a Filming Region to guide regional cost calculations.
4. Click AI Budget Generation to proceed, and then select the Confirm AI Budget Generation button.
The App will recalculate all budget figures and display a progress bar.
Once completed, the App will automatically update your budget table with new estimates based on breakdown tags and scheduling insights.

Understand budget estimates with Budget Hints
