Content protection adds export controls, a forensic watermark, and a PDF lock to the material you share from Filmustage. It is a security layer for sensitive scripts, schedules, and budgets, applied to exports and to the on-screen view inside Filmustage. The project or organization owner sets it.
What it does
Export Access
Export Access sets which exports are allowed: All exports, PDF exports only, or No exports.
Watermark
Filmustage tiles a forensic watermark across the protected surface, so any leaked copy traces back to a person. Turn on the surfaces you need:
On PDF exports — Filmustage stamps the watermark into exported PDF files.
On-screen view — Filmustage overlays the watermark on the project inside the browser.
When a surface is on, you can choose whether your own material is included, with Watermark the owner's exports too, and Watermark the owner's screen too.
Note: Your own exports are not watermarked unless you turn on Watermark the owner's exports too. If you leave it off, your exported files won't be traceable.
Two settings control what the watermark contains. They appear only inside a watermark, so at least one surface must be on:
Include viewer identity — adds the identity of the person viewing or exporting to the mark.
Custom Notice — adds your own text to the mark, for example, CONFIDENTIAL — do not distribute.
PDF Lock
A PDF lock restricts what can be done with an exported PDF:
No lock — the PDF has no restrictions.
Block editing & copying — editing, copying, and annotating the exported PDF are restricted.
A third option, Require password to open, requires a password to open the exported PDF. It is available only when you add protection at export time. See Add content protection when you export.
Protection levels
Filmustage applies content protection at three levels, plus a per-export option. A more specific level overrides a broader one, and settings you don't change are inherited from the level above:
Team — the default for every project in your organization. See Set content protection for your team.
Project — overrides the team default for one project. See Set content protection for a project.
Collaborator — overrides the project setting for one teammate on one project. See Set content protection for a specific collaborator.
At export time — anyone exporting can add more protection for a single export, on top of what the owner has set. See Add content protection when you export.
Note: Only the project or organization owner can change content protection.

Plans
Content protection is available on a $149+/month plan, or any paid plan active for 3 or more consecutive months. The owner can open the settings and review the current policy on any plan; saving changes requires a qualifying plan.
