Add a new category

How to add a tag category to your project from the Summary tab or the Script tab

Written by Egor Dubrovsky

In the Summary tab or the Script tab, you can add a new tag category to your project โ€” either a preset category from Filmustage's standard list or a fully custom one with your own name and color.

Before you begin

Option 1: Add a preset category

Filmustage provides a standard list of categories you can add to your project with one click: CAST INFO, SPECIAL EFFECTS, VISUAL FX, SCREEN TITLES, STUNTS, MUSIC, VEHICLES, ANIMALS, NUDITY, GREENERY, and WRANGLER. Categories that already exist in your project don't appear in this list.

Procedure

  1. Go to app.filmustage.com, and then open your project.

  2. On the ribbon, go to the Summary tab or the Script tab.

  3. Select ADD NEW CATEGORY.

    • In the Summary tab, the button appears below the last category box on the Breakdown Summary page.

    • In the Script tab, the button appears at the bottom of the left-hand category panel.

  4. From the dropdown, select the category you want to add.

Filmustage adds the new category to your project. The category appears empty until you add tags to it.

Option 2: Create a custom category

Use this option when none of the preset categories fits your need.

Procedure

  1. Go to app.filmustage.com, and then open your project.

  2. On the ribbon, go to the Summary tab or the Script tab.

  3. Select ADD NEW CATEGORY.

  4. At the bottom of the dropdown, select + Create New Category.

  5. In the Create New Category window, do the following:

    • In the Category Name field, enter the name.

    • Select a color from the color picker, or paste a specific hex code into the Color field.

  6. Select Save.

Filmustage adds the custom category to your project with the name and color you set.

Note: Adding a category from the Summary or Script tab makes it available everywhere in your project, including the Reports tab.
