Highlight, underline, and strike through text

Highlight, underline, and strike through words and lines on the Script tab. Recolor or delete marks. Available on all plans.

Written by Egor Dubrovsky

On the Script tab, you can mark words and lines with highlights, underlines, and strikethroughs. These marks are tied to the text you select.

Note: Marks are annotations. They sit on top of the script, do not change the script text or your tags, and do not use Dude Coins.

Before you begin

  • Open a project that already has a script uploaded.

  • Open the scene you want to annotate. Marks apply to the scene you currently have open.

Mark up text

  1. Go to app.filmustage.com, open your project, and then go to the Script tab.

  2. On the annotation toolbar, select Highlight, Underline, or Strikethrough.

  3. For Highlight or Underline, choose a color from the palette, or select + to pick a custom color. Strikethrough has no color.

  4. Select the text you want to mark.

Filmustage adds the mark to your active layer. If you do not have a layer yet, Filmustage creates one for you.

Tip: Each tool has a keyboard shortcut: "H" for Highlight, "U" for Underline, and "S" for Strikethrough. To leave annotation mode, select the active tool again, or select Select.

Edit or delete a mark

  1. On the toolbar, select Select.

  2. Select the mark you want to change.

  3. In the popover, choose a new color for a highlight or underline, or select Delete to remove the mark.

To remove several marks quickly, use the Eraser — drag across the marks you want to remove. You can also select a mark and press Del.
